Rash to yellow dye in levodopa-carbidopa

Patients experiencing a rash on sinemet requiring stopping and rechallenging were actually allergic to a yellow dye (D&C Yellow 10 and FD&C Yellow 6) and were able to tolerate forms of levodopa not containing the dye. The safe forms included C/L 25/250 or 10/100 , CR forms of Sinemet, Stalevo and Parcopa, or Madopar (benserazide/levodopa).
